"motion"

My goal for this week was to play around with a slower shutter speed (something i've never really tried before) and try to capture the activity of my kids.  Instead, I ended up with a sleeping baby.  Children sure do look angelic while they sleep don't they?

"gratitude"

All month long we have been working on our thankful tree.  Everyday, we would put up something we are thankful for.  The things my three year old came up with were priceless:  train tables, choo choos, chicken, himself...we had to beg him to say mommy and daddy.  I am looking forward to making this a tradition and getting a picture of the boys by their thankful tree every year.

I am so thankful for this amazing group of photographers that I get to be a part of.  Each one has been so encouraging to me on this photography journey.  Be sure to follow the blog circle to the talented:  Pamela Joye- Salem,MA

"RED"

I spy something with my little eyes and the color is...RED!  We love playing this game in our house, can you find the red in each photo?  My brothers are in town for thanksgiving and so we decided to go explore a  local museum.  As you can probably see, my boys have their uncles wrapped around their fingers.

notice the red sign...typical uncle luke

our little "red" completely mesmerized

we found the perfect spot for this weeks theme!

"history"

This week we had a blast discovering a new piece of history in Cincinnati.  The Unmuseum is part of the Contemporary Arts Center, it is a gallery of interactive art designed for children and families to enjoy.   One of the neatest art pieces was the giant elephant that has lots of sensory drawers to open.  Some drawers make sounds (like telephones ringing), other drawers blow air out of them.  This is a must see if you are ever in Cincinnati.

13 before 2013

It's that time of year when holidays are quickly approaching and the end of the year is near.  A friend of mine on the bloom forum posted a visual board of 13 things she wanted to accomplish by 2013.  Her board was so beautiful that it motivated me to create a list of my own.  If you are a visual person, try this the next time you want to create a bucket list or goal list.  This was super fun to create!

1. complete a pinterest inspired craft
2.  write encouraging notes to those i've been thinking about
3.  cook at least 3 healthy dinners a week
4.  pray daily for over our future plans for 2013...hopefully moving to a bigger home!
5.  finish strong with my project 52 photography group...and get in more pictures!
6.  create a 2012 family photo album
7.  workout at least 2 times a week (ugh!)
8.  keep the master bedroom tidy (this seems impossible)
9.  go on a creative date night with the hubs, not just dinner.  :)
10.  actually make a fire in the fireplace!
11.  find a way to display christmas cards
12.  make Isaac's halloween costume on my own
13.  read my bible while kids nap

Follow up to come...

"self"

If you follow photography then i'm sure you have seen this blog post that has been going around the internet.  It's a mom sharing her thoughts about how important it is that our children have pictures not only of themselves but of their mamas with them.  One thing in particular struck me as she was describing the excuses that we as moms come up with to not be in a picture: "we're not as young as we used to be, we're still sporting mama bodies, we didn't have time to put makeup on, our kids are cuter."  I know these thoughts have run through my mind when thinking about having a picture taken of me.  So with this weeks theme "self", I knew I needed to hop in a picture with my kids...just as I am.

This week is going to be a fun one! I can't wait to see how everyone interpreted this theme.  First stop is with the lovely Carrie Hyche - Wheatland, WY

"change"

I need change in my life.  I get bored easily, and love variety.  So with every ending of a season I welcome the next.  This past weekend I was able to get away with some girlfriends for an overnight in the country.  We sat by the fire and chatted late into the night.  It was a much needed "change" of pace.

Next up is an amazing photographer who always challenges my creativity:

"grow"

I spotted this sunflower field on a friends facebook page this week, so of course I made it my mission to hunt it down!  Thankfully it was at a local farm that is open to the public.  This is any photographers dream...

Did you happen to spy something that goes along with "growing" and being a toddler boy?  That's right, Jordan got his first black eye this week from tripping and falling into his train table.  I just know he is going to be the one to give me gray hair. :)

"detail"

This weeks theme inspired me to capture the "details" of everyday life in our home.  These might be some of my favorite images yet....

There is something special about these two and the way they love eachother.  Each of them have such tender hearts toward eachother, even after a fight they make up quickly.  I love living life with them!
